Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1 SP1 Release Notes & Download
Build number 6.1.5104
Symantec Workspace Virtualization was previously released as Altiris® Software Virtualization Solution™.
Symantec Workspace Virtualization is a revolutionary approach to software management. It lets you put applications and data into managed units called Virtual Software Packages (VSPs). When you put an application into a VSP, you completely avoid conflicts between the application and other applications installed on a computer. You can also instantly activate, deactivate, or reset the application. If an application is broken, you can reset it to return it to its original state
Symantec Workspace Virtualization is available in two versions:
The commercial version lets you create and distribute Virtual Software Packages.
The free version for personal use lets you create and use your own virtual layers on your home or personal computer.
Features in this Release
Windows 7 Support
Support has been added for 32-bit versions of Windows 7.
Increased Streaming Performance
Several enhancements were made to increase performance when streaming virtual packages.
Certain variables do not resolve until a user has logged in for the first time. Before testing, make sure each user has logged in to the computer at least once.
Upgrading from 2.1 to 6.1 causes the new version to not install properly.
SWV's WMI provider not registered after an upgrade from 2x to 6.1
Long login time (6 minutes) when logging into domain. Corrupted profile if RTO VP is installed and enabled.
Unable to run multiple instances of FireFox at the same time.
Cloned layers do not inherit the layer attributes set for the main layer.
Only apply patch files to deactivated layers. Not doing so can cause the patch to not be applied properly.
